Data Protection
According to the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (Law No. 25(Ι)/2021), all respondents are required to provide accurate information to persons authorized by the Statistical Service. The Statistical Service is obliged to ensure statistical confidentiality. All data collected will be kept as confidential and will be used solely for statistical purposes. The use of confidential information for any purpose other than statistics (e.g. administrative, legal, tax purposes) and transmission to other government authorities or individuals is prohibited.
For all statistical units for which the Statistical Service keeps data, including personal data, statistical confidentiality, which is a fundamental, irrevocable principle for the Statistical Service is strictly applied. The internal procedures applied and resulting from the application of statistical confidentiality, fully cover the provisions of the General Regulation on Data Protection (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), ensuring the protection of data at every stage, from collection to publication.
The Statistical Service takes all the necessary regulatory, administrative, technical and organizational measures, in order to ensure the physical and logical protection of the confidential data (statistical disclosure control) used for official statistics.
All data collected during the Population Census as well as from various administrative sources at a later stage, will be aggregated and disseminated without directly or indirectly revealing the identity of the persons who provided the data or the statistical units to which they refer to. In addition, the collected information will continue to be considered confidential even after the results are published.
